Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters by defeating Chilean Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 6-4 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Thursday afternoon.
Tsitsipas, ranked No 3 and the winner of the past two Monte-Carlo titles, will play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 8 seed, and Czech Jiri Lehecka next. He’s now won 12 consecutive matches in Monte-Carlo.
The Greek benefited from the abandonment of Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (4-1) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Jarry, ranked No 58, won against Croat Borna Coric, the No 15 seed (6-2, 6-3) and edged out Australian qualifier Alexei Popyrin (3-6, 7-5, 6-4).
