Madrid Masters: Dimitrov moves into possible third round with Alcaraz after close encounter with Barrere

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 26 seed, reached the third round of the Madrid Masters by defeating Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 7-6 (6), 7-6 (2) at the Caja Magica on Friday.
Dimitrov, ranked No 32, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori next.
Barrere, ranked No 56, won against American wildcard Emilio Nava (6-0, 5-7, 6-3) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
