Mubadala Citi DC Open: Baptiste upsets former world No 1 Pliskova, faces top seed Gauff in last 16
The American qualifier upset Pliskova 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 on Tuesday in the first round in Washington

American qualifier Hailey Baptiste scored one of the biggest wins of her career to beat former world No 1 Karolina Pliskova in three sets and advance to the last 16 of the Mubadala Citi DC Open on Tuesday.
Baptiste, who grew up a couple of blocks away from the tournament venue, won 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 to reach the second round in Washington DC after coming through the qualifying draw.
