Argentinian Nadia Podoroska won against Russian qualifier Valeria Savinykh 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Ningbo Open on Wednesday night.
Podoroska, ranked No 87, will face the winner of the match between Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 3 seed, and Katerina Siniakova next.
Ahead of her victory, the Argentinian beat Chinese wildcard Xiyu Wang (7-6 (3), 6-4).
Savinykh, ranked No 164, defeated Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 5 seed (7-5, 7-5) in the previous round.
