Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko advanced to the 32 of the China Open when Chinese Lin Zhu retired on Monday.
Tsurenko, ranked No 49, led 6-0, 3-0 when Zhu, ranked No 34, pulled out on Monday.
The 34-year-old Ukrainian will face No 16 seed Veronika Kudermetova next.
