Mouratoglou: “We will have a women’s UTS as soon as we can”

The Frenchman said the expense and logistics have made staging a women’s Tour difficult to this point

The UTS season concludes this weekend with eight of the top men going toe to toe at London’s Excel, the winner being crowned the UTS champion for 2023.

Andrey “Rublo” Rublev, Casper “The Iceman” Ruud, Holger “The Viking” Rune, Jack “The Power” Draper, Diego “El Peque” Schwartzman, Gaël “La Monf” Monfils, Benoit “The Rebel” Paire and Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik will play in two round-robin groups, with the top two progressing to the Final Four of the fast-paced, innovative event.

But if Patrick Mouratoglou, the founder and brains behind UTS, has his way, then the event will see the sport’s leading women involved in the future.

“We had one event for the women, which Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won,” Mouratoglou said at UTS London on Thursday. “It’s been very difficult to have both Tours at the same time and it’s very expensive.

“If we could have done it already, we would have done. It’s a little easier with the men’s Tour because the business is bigger but as soon as we are able to handle both tours, there’s no question we will have a women’s Tour.”

The UTS Grand Final begins on Friday.
