Boulter wins San Diego for biggest title of her career

Katie Boulter won the San Diego Open trophy by beating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 6 seed, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 at the Barnes Tennis Center on Monday night.
It’s the biggest title of the 27-year-old Briton’s career and ensures she rises to a new career-high ranking of No 27.
Boulter, ranked No 49, defeated Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-3, 6-1), Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the second seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), Croat Donna Vekic, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-3) and American Emma Navarro, the No 3 seed (6-3, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the San Diego tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Kostyuk, ranked No 34, defeated American qualifier Ann Li (6-4, 4-6, 6-2), Australian wildcard Taylah Preston (6-4, 6-3), Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 4 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-3) and American Jessica Pegula, the top seed (7-6 (4), 6-1).
