American Peyton Stearns, the No 3 seed, reached the last 8 of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo by winning against Australian Taylah Preston 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Stearns, ranked No 87, will play Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American beat French lucky loser Margaux Rouvroy (6-4, 6-1).
