Murray/Raducanu team up for Wimbledon mixed doubles

Murray pulled out of the singles draw on Tuesday but will also play in the men’s doubles event with brother, Jamie Murray

There may be no singles farewell for Andy Murray at Wimbledon this year. But the former world No 1 is ensuring that his final appearance at the All England Club will be a memorable one.

After teaming up with brother Jamie Murray for the men’s doubles event, Murray has now entered the mixed doubles event with countrywoman and fellow Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu.

The duo will team up for the first time as a wild card entry in the tournament.

On Tuesday morning, Murray withdrew from the singles event after failing to recover sufficiently from a back surgery to treat a spinal cyst. But his team did confirm that he would go ahead and play in the men’s doubles event in what would be his final Wimbledon.

Murray had also taken part in the mixed doubles event at Wimbledon in 2021 where he partnered Serena Williams. The pair won two matches before bowing out in the quarter-finals.

Raducanu is still alive in the women’s singles event and won her first-round match on Monday.
