No 6 seed Zhizhen Zhang beat wildcard Yunchaokete Bu 7-6 (3), 6-4 to reach the final of the Hangzhou Open at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center on Monday afternoon.
Zhang, ranked No 43, will face Croat wildcard Marin Cilic next.
Earlier in the tournament, Zhizhen Zhang won against Kazakh qualifier Denis Yevseyev (6-2, 1-6, 6-4), Italian Mattia Bellucci (6-3, 6-0) and Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-3, 6-3).
Bu, ranked No 96, won against Frenchman Hugo Gaston (7-5, 6-3), Russian Karen Khachanov, the second seed (7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-3) and Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Hangzhou tournament.
