Teichmann into quarter-finals after Tomljanovic withdraws from Mérida Open
Jil Teichmann benefited from the forfeit of Ajla Tomljanovic on Tuesday and will face the winner of the match between American Ann Li and Croat Antonia Ruzic in the next round

Swiss Jil Teichmann reached the last eight of the Mérida Open after Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, the No 3 seed, withdrew before their match on Tuesday at the Yucatan Country Club.
Teichmann, ranked No 153, will face the winner of the match between American Ann Li and Croat Antonia Ruzic next.
The Swiss beat Russian qualifier Anastasia Tikhonova (6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Mérida tournament, Tomljanovic, ranked No 85, won against American qualifier Elizabeth Mandlik (7-6 (9), 6-1).
