Eye of the Coach #100: “Fritz improved his game to match with top players”
In the latest episode of Eye of the Coach, Patrick Mouratoglou looks at what Taylor Fritz has done to improve his game
Taylor Fritz enjoyed a brilliant year in 2024, breaking the Top 5 for the first time and reaching his maiden Grand Slam final at the US Open.
And in the latest episode of Eye of the Coach, Patrick Mouratoglou puts the progress in his game down to the American’s observation of the two best players in the world – Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
“He’s dropshotting, which is something he was never doing before; he’s coming more to the net,” says Mouratoglou.
“He sees that the best players in the world, which are Alcaraz and Sinner, are so complete – I think Alcaraz is by far the most complete, then Sinner, and Sinner is also working to add new things to his game – he sees that’s where it is.
“Where you find your best level is by having so many options that you have an answer to all the questions asked by the opponent, all the problems caused by the opponent. Also you can cause all types of problems for your opponent because you have many options.”
