WTA Hobart: Kessler beats Lourdes Carle to reach quarter-finals
The American will face the winner of the match between Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the top seed, and American qualifier Ann Li in the next round

American McCartney Kessler won against Argentinian qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle 6-2, 6-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Hobart International on Wednesday.
Kessler, ranked No 67, will face the winner of the match between Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the top seed, and American qualifier Ann Li next at the Hobart ’s Domain Tennis Centre.
The American defeated Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the No 7 seed (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the tournament.
In the first round of the event, Carle, ranked No 96, beat Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-3, 3-6, 6-0).
