American Ann Li won against Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) to move into the semi-finals of the Singapore Open at the Kallang Tennis Hub on Friday night.
Li, ranked No 85, will face the winner of the match between Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the top seed, and Thai qualifier Mananchaya Sawangkaew next.
Earlier in the tournament, the American defeated Australian Daria Saville (6-3, 6-1) and Russian lucky loser Maria Timofeeva (6-3, 6-2).
Birrell, ranked No 95, won against Russian Polina Kudermetova, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-2) and edged out American Hailey Baptiste (6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Singapore Open 2025.
