Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open: Kudermetova squeezes past Samsonova in round one

Lucky loser Veronika Kudermetova edged out No 5 seed Liudmila Samsonova 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (5) to move into the second round of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City on Monday evening.

Kudermetova, ranked No 52, will play the winner of the match between Swiss wildcard Belinda Bencic and Slovak Rebecca Sramkova next.
