Magda Linette eased past Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets on Tuesday in Merida. Linette awaits either Maria Sakkara or Zeynep Sonmez in round two.

Pole Magda Linette made quick work of Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto with a 6-4, 6-0 victory in round one of the Mérida Open Akron on Tuesday evening.
Linette, ranked No 37, will next face the winner of a match between wild card Zeynep Sonmez and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed.
