Sonmez sends Sakkari packing from Mérida Open
Zeynep Sonmez upset Maria Sakkari in straight sets on Tuesday in Merida. Sonmez will face Magda Linette in the second round.

Wild card Zeynep Sonmez reached the last 16 of the Mérida Open Akron by winning against Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed, 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday night.
Sonmez, ranked No 88, will play Pole Magda Linette next.
