Houston Open: Tiafoe books spot in quarter-finals

The second seed will face the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 5 seed, and French lucky loser Adrian Mannarino in the next round

American Frances Tiafoe, the second seed, reached the last eight of the Houston Open by winning against Australian Adam Walton 7-5, 6-3 at River Oaks Country Club on Thursday.

Tiafoe, ranked No 17, will play the winner of the match between American Alex Michelsen, the No 5 seed, and French lucky loser Adrian Mannarino next.

Walton, ranked No 85, defeated American wildcard Michael Mmoh (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the tournament.
