Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reached the last 16 of the Monte-Carlo Masters by defeating Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7-6 (2), 6-3 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on Wednesday.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 42, will play No 5 seed Jack Draper next.
The Spaniard won against American Ben Shelton, the No 11 seed (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-1) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
In the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament, Etcheverry, ranked No 46, edged out French qualifier Corentin Moutet (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
