Alexander Zverev took back the world No 2 spot from Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings on Monday by winning the BMW Open in Munich. Alcaraz replaced the German last Monday after triumphing at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

The Spaniard would have remained in the second place if he had defeated Holger Rune in the Barcelona Open title clash on Sunday, but fortunes favoured the latter. Rune won the battle in straight sets (7-6 (6), 6-2) to breach the top 10 and become the new world No 9, climbing four places.

Zverev, who overcame Ben Shelton in the Munich final (6-2, 6-4), gained 490 points, Alcaraz bagged 330 points and Rune collected 400 points.

Following is the new ATP top 10:

  1. Jannik Sinner: 9,930 pts
