Madrid Masters: Bublik upsets 25th seed Popyrin in second round

Kazakh Alexander Bublik upset Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 25 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (4) to advance to the third round of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Mágica on Friday.

Bublik, ranked No 75, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Gael Monfils and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed, next.

The Kazakh won against American Alex Michelsen (7-6 (2), 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the tournament.
