Huge power outage causes cancellation of play in Madrid
Play was stopped shortly after lunchtime on Monday, with organisers hopeful the problem will be resolved by Tuesday

There will be no more play at the Mutua Madrid Open on Monday after a huge power outage caused a blackout that reportedly spread across a major part of Spain and Portugal.
Matches were stopped and the Caja Majica was in darkness as officials scrambled to try to restore power. The outage happened in the middle of Coco Gauff’s on-court interview after her third-round win.
On the Manolo Santana Stadium court, the match between Grigor Dimitrov and Jacob Fearnley was suspended with Dimitrov leading 6-3, 5-4 but with Fearnley serving after saving a match point and breaking back in the second set.
Only two other matches were completed on Monday, with Mirra Andreev and Matteo Arnaldi advancing to the next round.
