Madrid Masters: Arnaldi makes last 16 amid power failure

Italian Matteo Arnaldi won against Bosnian Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Mágica on Monday.
Arnaldi, ranked No 44, will face the winner of the match between American Frances Tiafoe, the No 16 seed, and Frenchman Alexandre Muller next.
The match had to be finished with umpire Mohamed Lahyani calling the lines himself after a power outage caused a blackout at the venue.
Ahead of his victory, the Italian edged out Croat qualifier Borna Coric (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) and defeated Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-4).
Dzumhur, ranked No 63, won against Italian Mattia Bellucci (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 32 seed (1-6, 6-1, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
