American Amanda Anisimova, the top seed, won against Croat Petra Martic 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Trophée Clarins on Thursday evening.
Anisimova, ranked No 17, will face Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet next.
In the previous round, the American defeated Ukrainian Yuliia Starodubtseva (6-1, 6-2).
Martic, ranked No 114, edged out French wildcard Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) in the previous round.
