American Emma Navarro advanced to the second round of the Berlin Open by winning against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-2, 6-3 at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Monday.
Navarro, ranked No 9, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 8 seed, and German wildcard Eva Lys next.
