Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 9 seed, moved into the final of Paris Masters by beating Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 13 seed, 7-6 (3), 6-4 at the Paris La Défense Arena on Saturday afternoon.
“FAA” reaches his second Masters 1000 final in career after Madrid in 2024 (lost to Rublev) and takes the 8th ATP ranking to Lorenzo Musetti, getting closer to a qualification for the ATP Finals. Winning the trophy on Sunday would qualify him no matter Musetti’s results next week.
“I’m so happy, Auger-Aliassime said. A Masters 1000 final sounds so good. You don’t play those finals every week. Hopefully I can go all the way and get the title. But in terms of today, you get into a Masters and every match is tough.”
Auger-Aliassime: “I know what I can do against the best players in the world”
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 10, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, and Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, next, who’ll play their semifinal at 5:30 pm.
“It’s stacked. You’re always kind of curious to see how your game is gonna match up. I have deep self confidence in my game, I know what I can do against the best players in the world but you still have to go and execute. Today I did really well and I’m happy with the result.”
The Canadian won against Monégasque wildcard Valentin Vacherot (6-2, 6-2), German Daniel Altmaier (3-6, 6-3, 6-2), Frenchman Alexandre Muller (5-7, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4)) and Argentinian qualifier Francisco Comesana (6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-3) to reach this stage of the Paris Masters tournament.
