Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime swiftly dismissed concerns over a calf issue that required a medical timeout during his opening match loss at the ATP Finals against Jannik Sinner, assuring reporters the injury was “not dangerous.”

Auger-Aliassime, who fell to Sinner 7-6, 6-1, took the timeout early in the second set. However, when questioned about the severity of the calf issue, the 25-year-old remained unconcerned.

“Not dangerous”, Auger-Aliassime says

“No, not dangerous. I’m not too worried,” Auger-Aliassime said following the match.

The Canadian also clarified that his recent withdrawal from the Metz Open was unrelated to the injury, stating that there was “nothing with the calf” concerning that prior decision. The Canadian has retired from Basel quarterfinal at the end of October for a knee pain that he managed after the Rolex Paris Masters.

Auger-Aliassime credited Sinner’s strong performance as the deciding factor in the defeat rather than the physical issue. “He’s an amazing player. You have to give credit when the guy is just better than you. Today he was better than me. I’ll get ready for the next one,” he added.
