Brisbane International: Mpetshi Perricard makes quarter-finals

Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard edged out Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) to advance to the last eight of the Brisbane International presented by ANZ on Thursday night.

Mpetshi Perricard, ranked No 67, will face American Aleksandar Kovacevic next.

Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Frenchman edged out American Tommy Paul, the No 4 seed (7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (6)).
