Jakub Mensik lifted the Miami Masters trophy by defeating Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night.
Ahead of his victory, Mensik, ranked No 54, beat Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (6-4, 3-6, 6-1), No 6 seed Jack Draper (7-6 (2), 7-6 (3)), Russian Roman Safiullin (6-4, 6-4), No 20 seed Tomas Machac (W/O), Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 17 seed (7-6 (5), 6-1) and American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (4)).
Djokovic, ranked No 5, beat Australian Rinky Hijikata (6-0, 7-6 (1)), Argentinian lucky loser Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-1, 7-6 (1)), Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 15 seed (6-2, 6-2), American Sebastian Korda, the No 24 seed (6-3, 7-6 (4)) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 14 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Miami Open.
