Serb Dusan Lajovic advanced to the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open by beating Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 11 seed, 7-6 (10), 3-6, 6-1 at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Thursday.

Lajovic, ranked No 59, will face the winner of the match between Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 4 seed, and Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 16 seed, next.

The 33-year-old Serb won against Argentinian qualifier Diego Schwartzman (6-1, 6-2) and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of the Barcelona tournament, Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 27, benefited from the forfeit of Tomas Machac.
