Barcelona Open: Tsitsipas retires with back injury, sending Fils into semi-finals
Arthur Fils benefitted from the abandonment of Stefanos Tsitsipas (2-0) on Friday evening and will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, in the next round

Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 7 seed, moved into the last four of the Barcelona Open when Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, retired at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Friday.
Fils, ranked No 14, led 2-0 when Tsitsipas, ranked No 16, pulled out on Friday evening at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.
The 20-year-old Frenchman will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, Arthur Fils defeated Spanish wildcard Pablo Carreno Busta (7-6 (6), 6-3) and Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (6-3, 6-2).
The Greek won against American Reilly Opelka (6-2, 6-2) and American Sebastian Korda (7-6 (4), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Barcelona tournament.
