Casper Ruud of Norway, 27, ranked No. 23, has confirmed on Instagram that David Ferrer will join his team for the 2027 season.
Eurosport Spain had reported the news earlier on Saturday. The 44-year-old Spaniard, a former world No. 3, will start once he steps down as Spain’s Davis Cup captain after the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, from November 24 to 29.
“Good news travel fast! David Ferrer will be joining the team next year and needless to say we’re all really excited about what’s ahead,” Ruud wrote.
Ferrer announced on October 15 that he was giving up the final year of his contract with the Spanish federation.
Ruud’s father, Christian Ruud, and Pedro Clar are already part of his team, according to Norwegian daily VG. The full make-up of the team for 2027 has not been announced.
Ruud made the announcement a few hours after losing 6-4, 6-4 to Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, 23, the second seed and world No. 3, in the Rolex Paris Masters semi-finals. A three-time Grand Slam finalist and former world No. 2, Ruud has reached one final in 2026, in Rome.
