Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Cincinnati Masters by winning against American wildcard Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-2 at the Linder Tennis Family Center on Tuesday night.
Alcaraz, ranked No 4, will face the winner of the match between Croat Marin Čilić, the No 14 seed, and Finn Emil Ruusuvuori next.
McDonald, ranked No 72, defeated Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the Cincy Open.
