Cincinnati Masters: Another early exit for Medvedev
Adam Walton beat Daniil Medvedev 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 on Sunday

Australian Adam Walton earned the greatest victory of his career against Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No. 12 seed, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, to reach the third round of the Cincinnati Masters at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Sunday.
For Medvedev, a past champion in Cincinnati, this marks another early exit in what has been a very difficult 2025 season so far. Since his final in Halle, the Russian has won just three matches and lost four, including a first-round defeat at Wimbledon.
Medvedev seemed headed for a straight-sets win. After taking the first set 7-0 in the tie-break, he held three break points to lead 4-2 in the second. He failed to convert them and then literally deflated, losing his serve at 5-4 in the second set and winning only one game in the third.
Medvedev alternated between moments of visible tension with his coach, Gilles Cervara, in the stands and periods of complete calm, as if drained physically and mentally.
Walton, ranked No. 85, will next face Czech Jiri Lehecka, the No. 22 seed. In the previous round of the Cincinnati tournament, the Australian defeated Argentinian lucky loser Mariano Navone, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
