Italian Jannik Sinner, the top seed, advanced to the third round of the Cincinnati Masters by winning easily against Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan 6-1, 6-1 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Saturday.

It’s the quickest win of his 2025 season so far, in only 59 minutes. “Matches are always more different than practice sessions, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect today,” Sinner said. “But I’m very happy. It’s not easy to play here, the ball is flying. You have to serve very precisely, but also with good pace if you want to go far in the tournament.”

The world No.1 is now on 22-match winning streak on hard courts since losing to Alcaraz in Beijing final last September (8-0 in 2025 after his win at the Australian Open) and aims to become first man since Federer in 2014 and 2015 to defend the title in Cincinnati.

Sinner, ranked No 1, will face Canadian Gabriel Diallo, the No 30 seed, next. Diallo won against Argentinian Sebastian Baez 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday.

Cincinnati is the first appearance of Sinner since his victory at Wilmbledon. Other impressive stat : he is now 3-0 vs. players ranked outside Top 50 and 24-0 in his opening round matches since losing to No. 66 Lajovic in Cincinnati second round two years ago on Italian’s 22nd birthday.
