Citi Open: After Brooksby and De Minaur, Nishioka beats Khachanov !

Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka beat Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 7 seed, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (1) to reach the last eight of the Citi Open at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington on Thursday.

Nishioka, ranked No 96, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, and No 16 seed Daniel Evans next.

In the previous round of the Citi Open, Washington D.C., the Japanese, aged 26, won against American Jenson Brooksby (6-4, 6-3) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 11 seed (3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-2).

Khachanov, ranked No 24, edged out German qualifier Dominik Koepfer (6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-4)
