Novak Djokovic has been racking up the records recently, the latest being the overall number of weeks at world No 1, with this week representing week No 378, breaking him free of a tie with Steffi Graf.

In a career that is approaching two decades long, there are not too many records left for him to break but if there’s one empty spot in his trophy cabinet, it concerns an Olympic gold medal.

The Serb won a bronze medal in 2008 but missed out in 2012, 2016 and 2021. Now he wants to put that right and his set his sights on Paris next summer, by which time he will be just turned 37.

“I look forward to Olympics,” he told reporters in Dubai. “You mentioned Olympics. I hope that I’ll be able to play healthy for next year in Paris Olympic Games. It’s going to be played on clay in Roland Garros, so I’m familiar with those grounds.

“I hope (my) best Olympic result for me will come there.”
