Dutch Open: Griekspoor into second final of the year

Tallon Griekspoor beat Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 7-5 on Saturday. He’ll play Jordan Thompson for the title

Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 6 seed, advanced to the final of the Dutch Open by winning against Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 7-5 at the Autotron Rosmalen in s-Hertogenbosch on Saturday afternoon.

Griekspoor, ranked No 38, will play Jordan Thompson for the title.

The Dutchman won his other ATP tour-level final this year, in Pune.

He is the second consecutive Dutch finalist at the event after Tim van Rijthoven won the title last year.

The Dutchman defeated Swede Mikael Ymer (6-2, 3-6, 6-3), Australian Alexei Popyrin (6-3, 6-2) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 4 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Rosmalen, Ruusuvuori, ranked No 42, won against American Brandon Nakashima (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-4) and Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed (6-3, 6-4).
