European Open: Marterer reaches quarter-finals

German qualifier Maximilian Marterer won against Portuguese Nuno Borges 6-3, 7-6 (3) to move into the quarter-finals of the European Open at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp on Thursday.
Marterer, ranked No 127, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Hugo Gaston and German Jan-Lennard Struff, the second seed, next.
The German beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Antwerp Open.
In the first round of the Antwerp Open, Borges, ranked No 74, won against German Dominik Koepfer (7-6 (6), 6-4).
