Generali Open: Thiem delights home crowd with first round win
The Austrian will play China’s Zhizhen Zhang in the next round

Austrian wildcard Dominic Thiem defeated Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis 7-6 (3), 7-6 (6) to advance to the second round of the Generali Open at Kitzbühel Tennis Club on Tuesday.
Thiem, ranked No 116 in the world and playing at home, saved five setpoints in the first set and two in the second on his way to the victory in front of a packed Centre Court crowd.
The Austrian, who won the title here in 2019, will face Chinese Zhizhen Zhang next.
