Gijon Open: Rinderknech books spot in quarter-finals

Arthur Rinderknech advanced to the last eight of the Gijon Open by winning against Constant Lestienne 6-4, 6-2 at the Palacio deportes on Wednesday afternoon.

Rinderknech, ranked No 56, will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Thiago Monteiro and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the second seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, Arthur Rinderknech defeated Spanish lucky loser Carlos Taberner (6-3, 6-3).

Lestienne, ranked No 63, benefited from the abandonment of Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 7 seed (7-6 (5), 4-4) in the previous round of the Gijon.
