Andy Murray will make his return from injury at the Geneva Open and will definitely play at next month’s French Open.

The former world No 1, who has said he does not expect to continue playing much beyond this summer, has been out of action since the Miami Open, where he damaged ligaments in his left ankle.

The Scot, who turns 37 this month, has received a wildcard into Geneva, which begins on May 18. And on Wednesday, his team confirmed that he will play in the French Open next month before beginning his grass-court season in Stuttgart.

MURRAY TO BEGIN GRASS SEASON IN STUTTGART

Murray has stated previously that he would like to play the French Open one more time before he retires but after injuring his ankle, it had been feared he would not be able to play on clay at all and would instead focus on grass, and getting ready for Wimbledon.

Reports in the British media said Murray was planning to play doubles at Roland-Garros with fellow Brit Dan Evans.

The world No 77 will now take his place in the Geneva field alongside the likes of top seed Casper Ruud and former world No 4 Kei Nishikori, who has also been given a wildcard.

And he will then begin his grass-court season in Stuttgart as he looks to hit top form in time for Wimbledon.
