American John Isner, the second seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Hall of Fame Open by defeating German Peter Gojowczyk 6-3, 7-6 (6) at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Wednesday evening.
Isner, ranked No 22, will play Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Hall of Fame Open, Gojowczyk, ranked No 91, won against Frenchman Ugo Humbert (7-5, 6-4).
