Hall of Fame Open: 18-year-old Michelsen downs Isner to make first final

Alex Michelsen reached the final of the Hall of Fame Open by beating John Isner 7-6 (6), 6-4 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport on Saturday evening.

Michelsen, ranked No 190, will face second seed Adrian Mannarino next.

Alex Michelsen won against No 5 seed Maxime Cressy (6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5), Australian James Duckworth (4-6, 6-3, 6-0) and No 4 seed Mackenzie McDonald (6-3, 6-3) ahead of his victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Isner, ranked No 126, defeated Australian qualifier Alex Bolt (6-4, 2-6, 6-3), Frenchman Corentin Moutet, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-4) and top seed Tommy Paul (4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4)).
