Italian Flavio Cobolli won against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the last 8 of the Hamburg Open at Tennis Stadion on Wednesday afternoon.
Cobolli, ranked No 35, will face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut next.
The Italian beat Ukrainian lucky loser Vitaliy Sachko (5-7, 6-2, 6-2) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Hamburg tournament, Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 26, won against Frenchman Gael Monfils (6-3, 6-3).
