Houston Open: Purcell moves into second round

Australian Max Purcell, the No 8 seed, edged out American Alex Michelsen 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4 to advance to the second round of the Houston Open at River Oaks Country Club on Tuesday evening.

Purcell, ranked No 79, will face American wildcard Michael Mmoh next.
