Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 14 seed, moved into the last eight of the Monte-Carlo Masters by beating Italian lucky loser Lorenzo Sonego 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Thursday evening.
Humbert, ranked No 15, will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 8 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Frenchman won against Argentinian qualifier Federico Coria (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang (6-1, 6-4).
Sonego, ranked No 57, won against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-4, 7-5) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
