Medvedev unhappy with court speed at Indian Wells despite making a winning start
Daniil Medvedev won against Bu Yunchaokete 6-2, 6-2 on “probably the slowest court” he’s ever played

Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, reached the third round of the Indian Wells Masters by winning against Chinese Bu Yunchaokete 6-2, 6-2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Friday.
Medvedev used an hour, 37 minutes to beat Bu, recording three aces, 23 winners and five break-point conversions, and benefitting from the Chinese’ 28 unforced errors.
Despite making the winning start, the Russian wasn’t happy with the court speed at Indian Wells.
“It’s probably the slowest court I’ve ever played in my life,” he said after the match. “Everyone has a different perspective. Some will find it fast. Some will find it slow. If you ask Sascha or Casper they’re not gonna say it’s fast. I find it super slow. Probably the slowest I’ve ever played on in my life. It’s always been the case at Indian Wells and I managed to play good here. I’m looking forward.”
Medvedev, ranked No 6, will face No 31 seed Alex Michelsen next.
Bu, ranked No 71, beat American wildcard Nishesh Basavareddy (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters.
