Lyon Open: Nakashima into quarter-finals
Brandon Nakashima edged out Arthur Rinderknech 7-6 (6), 1-6, 7-5 on Tuesday and will face the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul, the No 3 seed, and Frenchman Gregoire Barrere in the next round
American Brandon Nakashima, the No 8 seed, edged out Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 7-6 (6), 1-6, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Lyon Open at Parc de la Tête d’or on Tuesday afternoon.
Nakashima, ranked No 52, will play the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul, the No 3 seed, and Frenchman Gregoire Barrere next.
In the previous round of the Lyon tournament, the 21-year-old American defeated Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (7-5, 6-3).
Rinderknech, ranked No 78, won against South African qualifier Lloyd Harris (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the Lyon tournament.
