Madrid Masters: Mensik makes quarter-finals

No 22 seed Jakub Mensik won against Kazakh Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Mágica on Tuesday afternoon.
Mensik, ranked No 23, will face the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 20 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, Jakub Mensik defeated American qualifier Ethan Quinn (7-6 (4), 6-1) and American Ben Shelton, the No 12 seed (6-1, 6-4).
Bublik, ranked No 75, won against American Alex Michelsen (7-6 (2), 7-6 (4)), Australian Alexei Popyrin, the No 25 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed (6-4, 0-6, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
